CAPITALE HISTORIQUE Capitale historique du pays de l’horlogerie, Neuchâtel a une tradition de précision et d’innovation. La région alentour a accumulé depuis près de trois siècles une belle expérience, qui a contribué à asseoir le label de qualité de Neuchâtel que ce soit au niveau des marques ou des procédés de fabrication.
C’est là que se situe le véritable berceau de l’horlogerie moderne.
C’est là que nous nous sommes installés, en 2004.
Dans cette quête d’identité et de performance, la nouvelle marque décide ainsi de sceller son sort à celui de cette ville en prenant pour nom l’anagramme de Neuchâtel : HAUTLENCE. LES HOMMES & LE COLLEGE HAUTLENCE a pris corps à l’initiative de Renaud de Retz, Guillaume Tetu, avec Jean Plazenet, Jean-Christophe Chopin et Alain de Forges.
Qu’ils soient issus du sérail horloger ou d’autres industries de précision, ces passionnés ont joint leurs efforts, mis en commun leurs riches expériences respectives d’entrepreneurs et d’industriels, et se sont réunis pour développer des produits correspondant à une philosophie horlogère qu’ils partagent.
Les uns comme les autres bénéficient de la richesse de l’environnement humain qui les entoure à travers le Collège.
Ainsi, que ce soit pendant les étapes de la conception, du développement ou de la production, nous travaillons en symbiose avec des hommes de l’art qui partagent avec nous le même désir d’arriver à concrétiser dans des conditions d’excellence un rêve ; créer un objet réellement nouveau. Les relations de confiance et d’amitié que nous entretenons avec eux dépassent de très loin ce que sont
habituellement celles de donneurs d’ordre à soustraitants.
Cette notion ne se limite pas à ceux qui coopèrent en amont à nos montres, elle s’étend à ceux du monde de la distribution très sélective, de la vente (chez les meilleurs représentants mondiaux d’horlogerie), des journalistes et à des clients avec qui nous avons un accès direct ; désireux de partager avec nous nos valeurs horlogères. De fait, ces montres artisanales nécessitent l’intervention de plus de 50 intervenants auxquels la marque, qui sait combien elle leur doit, rend hommage. LA SIGNATURE Pour symboliser cette collection et celles à venir, il fallait un signe fort. L’anneau de Möbius fut retenu; objet mystérieux n’ayant qu’une seule surface qui évoque à sa vue le signe mathématique de l’infini, du temps sans début ni fin.
Nous avons choisi de styliser et modifier ce signe pour devenir le logo de la marque et représenter au mieux l’anneau de Möbius. CONCEPTION & DÉVELOPPEMENT C’est à partir de la confrontation d’idées fortes sur de nouvelles approches de l’affichage de l’heure et de l’examen des conceptions mécaniques qui peuvent y être associées qu’une montre HAUTLENCE prend forme.
Connaissance de l’histoire des produits horlogers et des aspirations actuelles ; maîtrise et compréhension de l’apport possible des moyens de conception et simulation assistée sur ordinateur à partir du coup de crayon des esquisses initiales ; expérience de la faisabilité de réalisation tant au niveau des matériaux que des moyens d’usinage et du travail de l’homme.
Dans ces conditions, nous abordons alors directement la conception générale et la simulation dynamique complète. Pendant ces itérations, les maîtres horlogers et spécialistes sont consultés et associés à la marque.
Ils participent à la création jusqu’à ce que les détails de l’étude puissent être confiés à l’extérieur pour constituer un dossier de fabrication. Seul celui-ci, en rapport direct avec la réalisation des pièces et le montage de la montre peut décider des bonnes tolérances et réserves géométriques pour permettre l’assemblage et le réglage.
Les meilleurs spécialistes de la réalisation de chaque type de composants sont alors chargés de produire les pièces des prototypes confiés à un maître horloger pour l’assemblage. La période des essais peut alors être abordée.
Le caractère innovant d’une part du mécanisme de la montre HAUTLENCE a nécessité la mise au point en interne de dispositifs tout aussi originaux de mesures et tests par un Docteur en mécanique qui a alors procédé aux essais concernant les prises de couple, l’usure et la résistance aux chocs des prototypes. In its constant search for identity and performance, the new brand has decided to unite its destiny with the capital by taking an anagram of Neuchâtel for its name – HAUTLENCE. THE MEN & THE COLLEGE HAUTLENCE came into being on the initiative of Renaud de Retz, Guillaume Tetu, with Jean Plazenet, Jean- Christophe Chopin and Alain de Forges.
Whether from the world of watchmaking or other precision industries, these enthusiasts have joined forces, shared their rich respective entrepreneurial and industrial experiences, and come together to develop products that conform to a shared philosophy of watchmaking. Everyone benefits from the diversity and richness of this human environment that surrounds them; through the College.
Whether it is during the conception, development or production stage, we work in symbiosis with craftsmen who share our commitment to sheer excellence and our desire to turn a dream into reality by creating a truly new object. The trust and friendship we maintain with them goes far beyond the usual relationships between client and subcontractor.
This concept is not limited to those who work on the initial stages of our watches, it extends to those operating in the worlds of our distribution – which is very selective -, sales (at the best watch representatives worldwide), journalists, and to clients with whom we have a direct relationship, who wish to share our watchmaking values with us.
These artisanal watches require the help of over 50 participants to whom the brand - which is very aware of how much it owes these participants - is paying tribute. THE SIGNATURE A strong sign was needed to symbolise this collection, and those to come. We decided on the Möbius band; a mysterious object, one continuous surface, evoking the mathematical sign of infinity, the sign of everlasting time without beginning or end.
We have stylised and modified this sign to make it the brand logo, and to best represent the Möbius band. CONCEPTION & DEVELOPMENT It is the encounter of strong ideas about new approaches to time display and the exploration of mechanical conceptions that can be associated with time display that gave shape to the HAUTLENCE project.
Awareness of modern aspirations and the history of watch products; mastery and understanding of the possible benefits of design programmes and computer simulation tools in order to bring the first pencil sketches to life; experience in determining the feasibility of creating a design in terms of materials, means of manufacturing and manpower…
In these conditions, we approach general conception and finalize dynamic simulation.
During these stages, we consult the watchmaking masters and specialists associated with
our company. They participate in the creation until the details of the study can be handed over to outside sources to compile a fabrication
file. In manufacturing the pieces and mounting the watch, this file alone is used to determine the appropriate tolerances and geometric reserves for its assembly and adjustment.
When it comes to manufacturing each type of component, the very best specialists produce the pieces for the prototypes, which are then given to a watchmaking master for assembly. Then, the testing period can begin.
The innovative character of the mechanism of the HAUTLENCE watch required an in-house doctor of mechanics to develop original measurement mechanisms and tests. This doctor then proceeded to conduct tests on the torque settings, wear and shock resistance of the prototypes. |
