Pour une horlogerie différente En créant sa société d'art horloger au printemps 2003, Vincent Bérard décidait de réaliser son rêve, ou plutôt sa "vision" d'une horlogerie différente, en redonnant vie à l'esprit pionnier qui a fait la force de la tradition horlogère suisse, générant l'inventivité dans le domaine technique, la créativité dans celui de l'esthétique, et la capacité à maîtriser la totalité du produit, de sa conception au service après-vente.
Pour ce créateur formé à l'établi de l'horloger-rhabilleur et du technicien en restauration d'horlogerie ancienne, la vraie tradition horlogère n'est pas de refaire ce qui a déjà été fait, mais de la faire progresser par l'apport d'idées et d'inventions nouvelles, dans le même esprit que ceux qui ont créé cette tradition il y a plusieurs siècles.
La démarche de la jeune entreprise est axée essentiellement sur le développement de produits horlogers mécaniques de haute précision, à grande complication, sous forme de montres, pendules et horloges.
Ce "Compagnon du temps", comme il se désigne lui-même sous le nom de la marque qu'il a créée et dont le logo rappelle une masse oscillante en forme de V au pivot symbolisé par la double boucle couchée du B majuscule - initiales de Vincent Bérard, a déjà marqué l'horlogerie de son empreinte de créateur en réalisant depuis une bonne dizaine d'années des développements et prototypes pour quelques-uns des grands noms de l'horlogerie suisse du haut de gamme.
Remodeler le passé dans un esprit contemporain pour générer des formes nouvelles, telle est la vocation de ce "sculpteur" de l'horlogerie pour qui l'art et la technique sont en perpétuels échanges et peuvent se traduire aussi par des sculptures originales liées au temps, tel cet étonnant "Mobile des longitudes" exposé au Musée International d'Horlogerie à La Chaux-de-Fonds.
Pour Vincent Bérard, "de même qu'une terre aride ne peut procurer l'abondance, le noyau créatif de l'entreprise doit pouvoir travailler dans un environnement suscitant le rêve et l'étonnement au même titre que l'objet qui y est réalisé ". C'est donc dans sa propriété même, une ancienne ferme neuchâteloise, située sur les hauteurs de La Chaux-de-Fonds, dans un parc arboré, que Vincent Bérard, Compagnon du temps, a installé ses ateliers de création. In creating his horological art company in the spring of 2003, Vincent Bérard had decided to fulfil his dream, or rather his "vision" of a different kind of watchmaking, by reviving the pioneering spirit that has empowered the Swiss watchmaking tradition. The ultimate goal is to generate inventiveness in the technical field, creativity in aesthetics, and the capacity to master the entire product, from design through to after-sales service.
For this creative mind trained at the workbench of a watch repairer and technician in restoring antique clocks and watches, the genuine horological tradition does not consist of remaking what has already been made, but of contributing to its progress by bringing new ideas and inventions, in the same spirit as those who created this tradition several centuries ago.
The approach of the youthful company is essentially geared towards developing high-precision mechanical horological products endowed with Grand Complications, in the form of watches and various types of clocks.
This "Companion of time", as he refers to himself under the brand name he has created, has already made his mark on watchmaking over the past decade or so by crafting developments and prototypes for some of the great names in Swiss high-end watchmaking.
Remodelling the past in a contemporary spirit in order to generate new shapes: such is the vocation of this horological "sculptor" for whom art and technology are constantly interacting and may also be expressed through original sculptures related to time, such as the astonishing "Mobile des longitudes" exhibited at the Musée International d'Horlogerie in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
Vincent Bérard is convinced that "just as dry ground cannot yield abundance, the creative core of a company must be able to work in an environment propitious to dreams and amazement, just as the object created there." It is thus in his own property, an old Neuchâtel farmhouse located in the upper part of La Chaux-de-Fonds, that Vincent Bérard, Companion of time, has set up his design studios. |
