L’horlogerie dans les gènes Depuis 4 générations, la famille de Pierre Dubois, fondateur et CEO de Pierre DeRoche cultive avec passion la science du décompte du temps. Un savoir-faire initié en 1901 par l’arrière-grand-père Marcel Dépraz, fondateur de l’actuelle Dubois-Dépraz. Lui succéderont Reynold, son gendre, Gérald son petit-fils, puis ses arrière-petits-fils Jean-Philippe et Pascal, frères de Pierre Dubois. Un héritage transmis et développé de génération et génération, ponctué de plus d’une cinquantaine de brevets déposés en un siècle. Dans la famille, on est horloger dans l’âme, précurseur de surcroît. 3 frères, des idées novatrices Plus qu’une marque, Pierre DeRoche est avant tout un esprit de famille, celui des Dubois et des Dépraz, établis depuis le début des années 1500 au Lieu, petit village de la Vallée de Joux, au cœur de l’arc horloger suisse. Aujourd’hui, c’est au travers de la marque Pierre DeRoche que Pierre Dubois et ses 2 frères Jean-Philippe et Pascal explorent les idées les plus audacieuses et conçoivent des garde-temps techniquement sophistiqués et exclusifs, dans la lignée de leurs prédécesseurs. Pierre et Carole, l’aventure d’un couple Puisant sans cesse dans leurs racines et s’appuyant sur un savoir-faire à la pointe de la technique, Pierre et Carole Dubois oeuvrent aujourd’hui au développement de Pierre DeRoche. Leur entreprise est la parfaite synthèse de la genèse familiale et d’un esprit d’indépendance, lesquels font partie intégrante de l’ADN des Dubois. Marcel Dépraz (1874-1946), dit « Le Grand Marcel » Marcel Dépraz, l’arrière grand-père, a toujours été particulièrement doué. Chef d’atelier à 25 ans, il porte déjà en lui la fibre des complications horlogères. C’est en 1901 qu’il fonde, avec courage et ingéniosité, l’actuelle Dubois-Dépraz, spécialisée dans la fabrication et le posage de mécanismes en tous genres. Bouillonant d’idées et inventif, il ne quitte jamais son fameux « carnet à idées ». Parmis ses travaux privilégiés, l’on retrouve les montres à sonnerie à répétitions ainsi que les chronographes. Pragmatique, il s’affranchit dès 1907 du premier montage « en blanc » des chronos assemblés en série. Archétype du bourgeois bohème, il affectionne tout particulièrement son village natal, le Lieu, son lac, ses balades, ses gourmandises. Plus qu’une origine, une véritable philosophie de vie. Reynold Dubois (1901-1977), gendre de Marcel Dépraz Diplôme d’horloger complet en poche et au bénéfice de plusieurs années d’expérience en Suisse comme à l’étranger, c’est en 1937 que Reynold Dubois revient au Lieu afin de seconder son beau-père dans la création et le montage de ses produits, un poste qu’il ne quittera plus jusqu’à sa retraite en 1975.
Musicien mélomane, il se joue des complications horlogères et excelle au violoncelle, comme dans une multitude d’autres instruments. C’est sous sa baguette que l’usine s’agrandit, suivant ainsi le travail de tout le personnel de façon plus productive et plus rationnelle. Son esprit sociable et à l’écoute des autres le rapproche toujours et encore de ses concitoyens qu’il transporte volontiers dans son automobile, l’une des premières du Lieu. Passionné par son travail, par la musique et par les gens, il a su harmoniser ses trois univers sans fausse note. Gérald Dubois (1928-…) dit « Dr. Es Chrono » En 1956, Gérald Dubois, fils de Reynold, développe le premier chronographe automatique. Grâce à son expertise, il trace un nouveau chemin dans les mécanismes compliqués et sophistiqués de tout ordre. Ces créations, sans cesse renouvelées et protégées par des brevets, donnent au secteur horloger un nouvel élan. Aujourd’hui à la retraite, ce chef de famille peut se consacrer pleinement à ses enfants et petits-enfants, avec qui il a rendez-vous tous les jeudis soirs et qui ne manqueraient ce repas pour rien au monde. Il n’en oublie pas moins son village natal, le Lieu. Gérald reste en effet très investi dans plusieurs sociétés locales. Impossible cependant d’oublier l’horlogerie avec trois enfants qui sont actifs dans le milieu. Ainsi, nombreuses sont les idées, les projets qui voient le jour chez PIERRE DEROCHE suite à des discussions animées entre les fils et le père. Plus qu’un héritage, une passion. Jean-Philippe & Pascal (Dubois-Dépraz) et Pierre & Carole Dubois (Pierre DeRoche) PIERRE DEROCHE et Dubois Dépraz. Trois frères. Un héritage commun, mais deux parcours distincts. Une formidable collaboration. Côté mouvements, ce sont Jean-Philippe et Pascal, à la tête de Dubois Dépraz, marchant sur les traces de leurs prédécesseurs, qui réalisent des complications originales imaginées par leur frère. Côté produit fini, c’est le couple Carole et Pierre Dubois qui se distingue en créant PIERRE DEROCHE. Une marque à leur image, dynamique, innovante et contemporaine, quand bien même muée par 110 ans d’horlogerie qu’ils portent dans leurs gènes, comme une impulsion inévitable. Leur vision du temps ? He was succeeded by Reynold his son-in-law, Gérald his grandson, then his great grandchildren Jean-Philippe and Pascal, Pierre Dubois' brothers. Three brothers, innovative ideas More than a brand, Pierre DeRoche is all about a family spirit, that of the Dubois and the Dépraz families, living since the 1500's in Le Lieu, a small village in the Joux Valley, in the heart of Switzerland's watchmaking region. Today, it is through the Pierre DeRoche brand that Pierre Dubois and his two brothers Jean-Philippe and Pascal explore the boldest ideas and create technically sophisticated and exclusive timepieces, following in their predecessors' footsteps. Pierre and Carole, sharing an adventure With their deep horological roots and knowledge of cutting-edge technology, Pierre and Carole Dubois are committed to the development of Pierre DeRoche. Their business is a perfect synthesis of family origins and a spirit of independence, both of which form an integral part of the Dubois family's DNA. Marcel Dépraz (1874-1946), known as Big Marcel Marcel Dépraz, the family's great grandfather, was extremely talented. He had already shown his innate gift for making watch complications by the time he became a shop foreman at the age of 25. With considerable courage and ingenuity, he founded what has become Dubois-Dépraz, a specialist in the manufacture and assembling of all kinds of movements. Teeming with ideas and highly inventive, he kept track of all his ideas in his little notebook. Among his best pieces were repeater watches and chronographs. A pragmatic man, he stopped doing "dummy assemblage" in 1907 and went directly to manufacturing chronographs in series. Very much the unconventional middle-class person, he loved his native village, Le Lieu, its lake, walks and local specialities. More than the place of his birth, it was a way of life for him. Reynold Dubois (1901-1977), son-in-law of Marcel Dépraz With a watch diploma in his pocket and several years of experience in Switzerland and abroad behind him, Reynold Dubois returned to Le Lieu in 1937 to assist his father-in-law in manufacturing and assembling watches, a position he held until his retirement in 1975.
A keen musician, he had a gift for making watch complications and excelled at the violoncello as well as a whole host of other instruments. It was under his baton that the factory expanded and was conducted along more productive and rational lines. His sociable character and readiness to listen to others brought him close to his fellow citizens, to whom he happily gave lifts in his car, one of the first in Le Lieu. He was devoted to his work, to music and to people and succeeded in harmonising these three overriding interests in his life. Gérald Dubois (1928-…) known as Dr. Es Chrono In 1956, Gérald Dubois, Reynold's son, developed the first automatic chronograph. Thanks to his expertise, he marked out a new path in complicated and sophisticated movements of all sorts. These products, continually re-worked and protected by patents, gave the watch sector a new impetus. Now retired and head of the family, he can devote himself fully to his children and grandchildren, with whom he has a meal every Thursday evening, something they wouldn't miss for the world. Nor has he forgotten his native village of Le Lieu, where he is still very involved in several local clubs. However, with three children working in the watch industry, this world is never far away. Indeed, many of the ideas and projects at PIERRE DEROCHE have had their genesis in lively discussions between father and sons. More than a heritage, watchmaking is a passion for him. Jean-Philippe & Pascal (Dubois-Dépraz) and Pierre & Carole Dubois (Pierre DeRoche) PIERRE DEROCHE and Dubois Dépraz: three brothers; one common heritage, two distinct paths; tremendous teamwork. Movements are the domain of Jean-Philippe and Pascal. At the head of Dubois Dépraz and following in their predecessors' footsteps, they produce the original complications designed by their brother. Finished watches are the domain of Carole and Pierre Dubois, who have founded PIERRE DEROCHE, a brand conceived in their image, dynamic, innovative and contemporary, but nourished by the 110 years of watchmaking in their blood.
