NEW CREATIONS
MAURICE LACROIX
A combination of mechanics and architecture, the Pontos Décentrique Phases de Lune liberates time from orthodoxy. In a theatre of bold innovations, the first scene is acted out at 10 o’clock on an off-centre dial, where a new and unique single hand tracks the minutes, while the dragging hours appear at a more leisurely pace on a disk. In the second scene, two superposed disks at 4 o’clock show the phases of the moon and indicate day and night. The final scene, perhaps the grandest of them all, takes place at 6 o’clock: the date is clearly shown in a metallised sapphire crystal window on a disk whose patented return system has been specially developed in-house. Series limited to 500.
HARRY WINSTON
Featuring a zalium case – a material used exclusively in watchmaking by Harry Winston – Project Z6 announces the arrival of a new complication in the collection: a 24-hour alarm on a hand-wound movement specially developed for this timepiece and exclusive to Harry Winston. Adjusted by the crown, the striking-mechanism for the alarm is activated by a trigger at 4 o’clock. The hammer, which is fixed to the case, can be admired through an opening on the dial, while the solid rectangular gong produces optimal resonance. Thanks to its two barrels – one for the movement, the other for the striking-mechanism – Project Z6 has a 72-hour power reserve. And matching the complexity of the 18-level movement, the off-centre dial reveals two overlapping disks that display the time and the alarm’s striking-mechanism. This series is limited to 300.
LONGINES
In 1933, the pilot Charles Lindbergh flew 47,000 km around the north Atlantic in the company of his wife to explore possible future air routes. The equipment he needed on this long expedition included a specially-designed Longines wristwatch chronograph, an exceptional timepiece that the winged hourglass brand has replicated in tribute to this historic voyage.
MAURICE LACROIX
Masculine, monochrome, high-tech. The very athletic case of the Pontos Chronographe Rectangulaire Full Black incorporates an innovative ceramic coating that increases its robustness and puts it unquestionably into the exclusive circle of technological instruments. Black from top to toe, the only concession made by this full black chronograph is the white Superluminova dots on the tone-on-tone architecture of its layers.
MOVADO
With a design firmly rooted in the industrial and architectural expression of the Bauhaus movement, the new Movado Masterä collection presents a new direction for the Museum’s iconic dial. Asymmetrical with a matt black or white dot-textured motif, it explores a new facet of “the circle within a circle”, giving it a different dimension and structure. With its convex centre, the symbolic dot at twelve takes on the appearance of a pushpiece. The men’s version of the Master, which houses an automatic movement with the emblematic “M” rotor, features luminescent hourmarkers; the ladies’ version, on the other hand, offers a variety of jewellery settings and houses a quartz movement.
BULER
An indispensable partner for any sporting activity, Buler’s Sea Quest is remarkable for its rotating unidirectional ratchet bezel, high-performance chronograph and water-resistance to 200 metres. Added to this is a meticulously studied design that gives the watch a touch of the ultimate in sport-chic.
JEAN D EVE
Jean d’Eve has ushered in a new age in the reading of time. With the hours divided into 4 three-hour counters positioned in each corner, time moves around the dial in an awe-inspiring relay race. Once the hand on the first counter has completed its three-hour leg, it springs back to its starting point after “handing the baton” on to the next counter, which then starts in its own brisk three-hour lap. And while this spectacle unfolds on the four counters – hence the name Quarta – the minutes tick away at the centre.
SULTANA
Sporting a design that is both modern and elegant, the Galatea comes with an automatic movement housed in a highly contemporary rectangular case with a transparent back. Available in black with Arabic numerals or silver white with Roman numerals, the dial is decorated with a classic guilloché centre with bright rays in the form of wavelets, an evocation no doubt of Galatea, a goddess-nymph in Greek mythology who transformed Acis, her lover, into a stream.
SECULUS
An expression of beauty and technology, this resolutely sporty chronograph is equipped with a highly sophisticated Ronda movement. Additional functions housed in its generous 46-mm case include the day, date and month as well as a tachometer. The finely-worked dial with its three silvered counters comes in black, white, blue or brown. The red chronograph seconds hand adds a dynamic touch, while the central date, revealed in a very original way on the dial rim, gives the dial a harmonious dimension.
URBACH
Famous jewellery designer Jacqueline Urbach is unveiling her first watches. Through the Precious Inspiration collection, this creative talent pays a three-fold tribute to art, to jewellery and to watchmaking. Her timepieces feature unique three-dimensional and exquisitely pure aesthetics. The collection, which includes 24 different numbered models, is meant for both men and women. Precious Inspiration makes a sparkling entrance onto the contemporary watchmaking scene.
