MOVADO

One of the world’s premier watchmakers, Movado is renowned for its iconic Museum® dial and modern design aesthetic. Since its founding in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1881, Movado has earned more than 100 patents and 200 international awards for artistry and innovation in watch design and technology, and Movado timepieces have won world renown for their unique beauty and timeless design.

Movado is hallmark of some of the most famous timepieces ever created, most notably, the Movado Museum® Watch. Designed in 1947 by Bauhaus-influenced artist Nathan George Horwitt, the watch dial defined by a solitary dot at 12, symbolizing the sun at high noon, has been acclaimed for purity of design unrivaled in the history of time-keeping. When Horwitt’s dial was selected for the permanent design collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, in 1960, it became the first watch dial ever awarded this distinction. Known today as the Movado Museum Watch, this legendary dial is regarded as an icon of Modernism. A trademarked and award-winning design, the celebrated single dot dial, along with exciting new explorations of it, now distinguish a wide range of Movado timepieces.

Launching in 2015 is an exceptional new collection of timepieces that reflect Movado’s proud Swiss heritage in mechanical timekeeping, as well as the clean, modern lines for which its watches are known – the 1881 Automatic collection features modern designs for both men and women…also premiering this year, the new Sport Edge men’s line, sparked by color, energizes iconic Movado design elements with crisp, contemporary style and youthful vigor, while the modern new Aria women’s family in white ceramic and stainless steel illuminated by diamonds, redefines sport-chic with brilliant simplicity.

Last year’s highly original Movado Parlee Limited Edition Automatic Chronograph inspired by a breakthrough in ultra-lightweight bicycle frame fabrication is now being followed by a second compelling four-piece series, the 2015 Movado Parlee Limited Edition Automatic Chronograph as well as a dramatic new Movado Parlee Quartz Chronograph full production design driven by the same innovative spirit. Movado also brings new breadth, beauty and innovation to several of its best-selling collections: The futuristic Sapphire family introduces four new men’s models – two on strap and two on a new, thinner “freefalling” bracelet – that feature an elegantly slimmer case design along with the family’s signature flat, edge-to edge crystal…Movado’s iconic Museum Classic collection adds a new gold PVD-finished strap model in fashionable tones of camel and brown…and the cleanly tailored Movado TC line, known for its large ultra-thin case and narrow bezel, adds two distinctive new bracelet chronograph models. Movado is proud to be associated with three extraordinarily talented and accomplished individuals who personify our brand values as Movado ambassadors – acclaimed actor Kerry Washington, Hollywood rising star Lily Collins, and the internationally acclaimed musician Wynton Marsalis.
